Adams, Charles True

Mr. Charles True Adams, 1900 to 1942, was one of the pioneers of the game of bridge and began his accomplishments when the game was called Whist. He lived most of his life in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He was an important contributor to the Official System, which regulated the play and procedure of the game of bridge in its most early days. He was one of the first authors of books and publications on the game of bridge and his book Contract Bridge Standardized, published in 1928 was widely read by those eager to learn this new game.

Among his other publications are:

Auction Bridge At Sight, 1928, Publisher: Bruce Roberts

Auction And Contract Bridge Pointers, 1929, Publisher: Bruce Roberts

Contract Bridge Standardized, published 1928, Publisher: Hawkins & Loomis Co., ISBN: B0008BA7BI

Contract Bridge at Sight, 1931, Publisher: Bruce Roberts, ISBN: B0008B4Y9Y, LC: 31016362

Official Contract at Sight: Authorized Official System, 1931, LC: ca 31000867

He was also the the Co-Editor In Chief, working together with Mr. Milton Work, of The Bridge Magazine, which became a popular publication of the time. He was also the Director of American Auction Bridge League in 1927. This organization lasted for two years and then the word Auction was dropped and the organization became known as the American Bridge League.

The early involvement of Mr. Charles True Adams has earned him a place in the annals of the game of bridge and, as a historic pioneer, a place of respect from fellow bridge players.
