Mr. Pierre Albarran devised also a conventional method, which bears his name: the Albarran Convention. He also developed the Canapé Principle, which is still employed by many bridge players around the world. The concept is to introduce the shorter suit before bidding the longer suit.

We have also included the answer to a Forum question posted by the last heir of Mr. Pierre Albarran, whose name is only provided as Julie. This email question was posted on BridgeTalk on November 23, 2004, and also on a French Forum on November 23, 2004. The answer to the question in French is included, and which surprisingly provides the year 1959 as the year of his death.

The source of the information provided in the answer seems to have been copied from a publication entitled: L'aristocratie du bridge, Paris, 1973, (editions Balland), written and published by: Mr. Pierre Jais, Mr. Jose Le Dentu, and Mr. Alan Truscott.

These Forum posts have been archived in a .pdf file format in order to retain the original French with its accents and Umlauts, which are not part of the English alphabet and which do not appear in correct form when copied. If any person would care to translate these postings for the benefit of other bridge players, we would greatly appreciate it.
