A 1 No Trump opening bid may be semi-balanced and may contain a 5-card Major suit and/or a 6-card Minor suit when the allowed range is minimum.
Note: However, in the Third and/or Fourth Seat, a 1 No Trump opening promises a range between 13-15 high card points.
If the 1 No Trump is employed in the First or Second Seat, then the indicated range is 10-12 high card points and either a 2 Clubs or 2 Diamonds by the responder is considered to be Stayman.
Note: But if the No Trump opening bid is made in the Third or Fourth Seat, then a response of 2 Clubs is Stayman only and a bid of 2 Diamonds or 2 Hearts is a Transfer.
The responses to a 1 Club opening generally shows first round controls and are considered artificial.
Any 2-over-1 bidding sequence is game-forcing.
The opening bidding of 2 Clubs suggests strongly the holding of a 6-5 distribution, whereby no Major suit may contain a 4-card suit.
