Dr. Selim Achmatowicz was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1933. By profession he was a University Chemistry Lecturer. Among his many titles he lecturered at the Institute of Electronic Materials Technology and also at the Wroclaw University of Technology. Among his professional achievements he collaborated on the technical publication with others titled Wide Bandgap Materials in Thermal Management of Electronic Structures.

His World Bridge Federation Code is POL&500848.

He had the following designation by the World Bridge Federation: WBF Code: POL&500848. For the 4th World Team Olympiad in Miami Beach, Florida, United States, which was contested from June 9 to June 24, 1972, he was the npc, or Non-Participating Captain, for the Team Members from Poland, who were: Lukasz Lebioda, Janusz Cyprian Nowak, Janusz Pietruk, Andrzej Simon, Wlodzimierz Stobiecki, and Andrzej Wilkosz. The bridge players from Poland placed 13th in the Open Teams.

Dr. Selim Achmatowicz was also the npc, or Non-Participating Captain, of Poland's International Teams from year 1961 to and including year 1964. In 1963, in Baden-Baden, Western Germany, the team members from Poland captured the Bronze Medal for the European Teams Championship. Team members were: Stanislaw Bitner, Jan Jezowski, Julian Klukowski, Zbigniew Szurig, and Czeslaw Kuklewicz.

He was also the co-editor of Encyklopedia Bridza, which was published in the year 1996 and which consisted of two editions together with BogumiƂ Seifert and Publisher of their two volume work is Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN, ISBN-10 : 8301122110 / ISBN-13: 978-8301122119.
