Katt Williams has stirred major controversy this week, making explosive comments about several fellow comedians while also revealing disturbing behind-the-scenes details about the movie industry.

Williams Accuses Cedric the Entertainer of Joke Theft

In a wide-ranging interview on Club Shay Shay, Katt Williams accused comedian Cedric the Entertainer of stealing one of his jokes and using it in Cedric’s 2000 stand-up comedy special The Original Kings of Comedy.

Williams claimed he told the joke during a 1997 episode of the stand-up show ComicView, and Cedric then repeated a very similar joke in his special 3 years later.

“Cedric the Entertainer at the same time as Original Kings of Comedy comes out with my joke verbatum,” Williams said in the interview. “And now I look like I stole the joke from him in 2023.”

Williams argued that the stolen joke has unfairly branded him as the joke thief when in reality Cedric stole his intellectual property.

The clip of Williams telling the disputed joke on ComicView in 1997 has now resurfaced and gone viral, adding fuel to Williams’ accusations:

Cedric has not yet publicly responded to Williams’ specific joke theft claim, but released a vague statement saying: “I have been in the game a long time. I have worked hard and I have learned that stories get twisted and turned which ever way people want to twist them.”

Williams Slams Steve Harvey, Rickey Smiley and Others

In the same Club Shay Shay interview, Williams also slammed several other veteran comedians.

He called out Steve Harvey for having “stolen all [his] material” early in Harvey’s career. Williams nicknamed Harvey “Potato Head” and criticized his looks, saying Harvey’s head doesn’t match his body.

Williams also accused radio personality Rickey Smiley of lying about Williams pulling out a gun during a dispute backstage at a comedy club.

“Rickey Smiley took that story and turned it into I pulled a gun out on him at the comedy club. None of those things happened. Rickey Smiley just told lies.”

Other comedians Williams criticized:

  • Kevin Hart – Williams called out Hart for acting above stand-up comedy now that he has achieved movie stardom.
  • Michael Blackson – Williams accused Blackson of not paying him for a show they did together years ago.

While some fellow comedians like Hart clapped back at Williams for airing dirty laundry in public, others came to his defense. Comedian Godfrey said he believes Williams’ accusations have merit:

“Katt makes some strong allegations and I tend to believe them because, I’ve been in rooms with some of these guys.”

Movie Industry Revelations

In addition to his controversy-sparking comments about fellow comedians, Williams also made news by revealing some extremely disturbing behind-the-scenes details about the movie industry.

Most shockingly, Williams claimed that disgraced former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein attempted to force Williams to perform oral sex on him.

As Williams told the story:

“I’d like to introduce you to Harvey Weinstein. He’s going to make you a star. Harvey Weinstein pulls his penis out and says ‘You know what, I’ll get you 3 movies … just suck this d**k in front of everybody right now.”

Williams says he refused and immediately left Weinstein’s office in disgust.

The comedian also revealed how he had a disturbing rape scene removed from the film Friday After Next:

“I don’t know if you know this but Friday After Next was the first film that I ever produced. I wrote it, I cast it, I starred in it. That movie originally had a rape scene in it. I took it out because I thought it was overkill.”

Williams explained why he pushed to cut the filmed rape scene:

“Rape has never been funny. It’s never been funny, it’s never been comical, it’s never been humor. It was bad judgement, it was bad taste…It wasn’t funny so I took something off my own movie because it wasn’t humor.”

What’s Next

Williams’ fiery interview on Club Shay Shay has set social media ablaze and sparked much debate. Some fellow comedians like Smiley and Hart have already responded to defend themselves from Williams’ accusations. More public reactions are likely in the coming days.

There is also increased scrutiny around some of Williams’ more serious claims. Sexual assault advocacy groups are calling for investigations into Harvey Weinstein and others in relation to Williams’ disturbing behind-the-scenes revelations.

As for Williams himself, his controversial interview seems unlikely to slow down his red-hot career. The comedian continues his “Dangerous” stand-up tour throughout 2024 with upcoming shows across the country.

With his signature confrontational comedy style, more verbal fireworks from Williams towards Hollywood and the comedy world seem imminent. But the question remains which revelations or accusations will spark the next viral headlines.
